Love

Today, I met a couple who had been together over 60 years, and they shared with me how they  first met and fell in love.  Their eyes still twinkled when they looked at each other...their Light radiated with the Love they shared !

It was so beautiful and reminded me of my first encounter with Terrell ( my late husband).  I saw him across a room in a green suit and told my friend " That's the man I plan to spend the rest of my life with".  I was blessed to have shared 35 years with him and will always trasure the memories....

On A mountain in India

Terrell was the love of my life, my best friend, my teacher, my mentor.  This picture was taken  only one year before he passed away in August of 2002. He climbed high into the mountains above the Vipassana Meditation Center at Dhamma Giri in India to  play his flute. His spirit echoed  through the music of flute as it floated down mountain to the village below.  As he descended the mountain, still playing his flute, the villagers grew closer  to greet him. He was weak in body  from the hike and being ill, but his spirit was strong and he continued to play for them.

It was my honor to be in his presence. He was the most loving and compassionate person I had ever known.   Though he knew he was ill and would not be here too much longer , he spent his remaining days serving others and teaching on love and compassion, not just by his words, but by his deeds.

Someday, when I'm ready, I'll share so much more about this amazing human being.

What Was I Thinking?

Posted on Jul 29th, 2008 by Diane : listener Diane

I remember when I was younger, and full of energy, you know, like the energizer bunny. Nothing stoped me. Well, I still have ideas and well meant plans, but sometimes my mind is not listening to what my body needs.

Here is just a little example of what I'm talking about. I have picked out an area in my yard to put in a new garden. The reason for this is, I have been working on the back yard the past three years, transplanting plants from my mountain home, Terrell and I shared. It's where I hang out early in the morning and late in the afternoon. My neighbors often drive by or poke their heads over my gate to see if I'm there so they can stroll through my back yard and catch what's in bloom. Driving up to the gate I have the basic landscaping, nothing too special, except in the early spring when the azaleas burst into vibrant pinks and purples and the giant weeping cherry sweeps the ground with it's soft pink blooms and the dogwoods spring to life as if to welcome the warmth promised.

Like I said, I have great ideas. I headed off to the nursery filled with enthusiasm and loaded my car with an abundance of plants. I drove up my driveway and unloaded all the new plants for the garden I planned. Then it hit me: I have to clear the area, dig the holes, remove the plants from the pots and finally add the mulch. Oh did I mention I have a broken foot . What was I thinking, I guess I wasn't.  Well, for now, they sure look nice on the patio in BACK yard.
